Named by one of my amazing customer’s. Representing the Calliope Hummingbird which signifies a flying, fierce, fast jewel, as she put it.

They are believed to be the smallest-bodied long distance migrant in the world. As you are beginning your next long distance adventure, remember this, it will help carry you along. 💫

The next day, after I found the name, my friend Julie came over, she corrected my pronunciation and we watched a Calliope come visit my bird feeder. I also saw a post on social media from a friend about how they carry a childlike, joyful play with them.

“Let it remind you of your own strength, tenacity, perseverance, endurance, and all the things you have overcome in your existence.”

I find this beautiful statement so fitting, as she was writing about a friend who overcame Covid19. All serendipitous, right!!

These photos also represent a location that was heavily burned by wildfires here in the Methow Valley during the Carlton Complex Wildfire, July 2014.

Take in the amazing beauty, that Mother Nature has done with her own, strength & resilience.
